How to connect Amazon Seller Central to ChatGPT

Porter’s Amazon Seller Central connector for ChatGPT takes 3 steps, with no code and no SP-API registration. Approve Porter in Seller Central, add Porter’s MCP URL to ChatGPT as a custom MCP server, then sign in and ask. For more screenshots, see the step-by-step Seller Central to ChatGPT tutorial. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard ChatGPT uses to connect to tools like Porter.

What you need first

  • Before you start, you need a Seller Central login that can authorize apps for the account, a free Porter account and a ChatGPT plan that supports custom MCP servers. Each marketplace you sell in also connects as its own account.
  • Custom MCP servers are in beta in ChatGPT on the web, so set up Porter and ask your questions from a browser. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, an admin or owner turns on developer mode, and then ChatGPT can also make the changes you confirm. On Pro, you turn on developer mode yourself, and ChatGPT reads and recommends (OpenAI’s guide to custom MCP apps).
  • Works in ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com, custom MCP servers in beta) and in Codex, with the same Porter MCP URL.
  1. Step 1: Connect Seller Central in Porter

Sign up free at Porter, pick Amazon Seller as the source and sign in with Amazon, then approve Porter on Amazon’s consent screen (Amazon’s guide to authorizing Selling Partner API apps). After that, pick ChatGPT as the destination.

  2. Step 2: Add the Seller Central connector to ChatGPT

In ChatGPT, open Customize › Plugins, click Add and choose Add custom MCP server. On Business, an admin does this from Workspace settings › Apps › Create. Name it Porter Metrics, paste this URL as the Server URL and keep OAuth as the authentication:

    MCP URL
    https://mcp.portermetrics.com/mcp

Tick “I understand and want to continue”, then select Create as a plugin.

  3. Step 3: Ask ChatGPT about Seller Central

Next, select Continue to Porter Metrics, sign in to Porter and click Allow Access. Then select Try in chat and paste this prompt:

    Prompt
For my Seller Central account, show Total Sales, Order Count and Unit Count by Date for the last 14 days.

Want to add another Seller Central account later? If so, just ask ChatGPT. It then gives you a Porter link to finish the Amazon sign-in.

02Use cases and prompts

What you can ask ChatGPT

Each use case comes with a prompt to copy, the fields it uses from the Amazon Seller fields list and who it’s for. Prompts cover one seller account at a time, because each marketplace connects as its own account. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, ChatGPT can also make the changes you confirm; on Pro it reads and recommends.

Can ChatGPT write my weekly Seller Central sales report?

The problemMonday’s client update means opening Business Reports, setting last week’s dates, then doing it all again for the week before.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT puts last full week next to the week before: Total Sales, orders, units and order items by day. It names the best and worst day, works out the average price per unit, then ends with 3 takeaways for the client.

What you getYour update starts from one table with the takeaways already written instead of 2 date ranges copied out of Seller Central.

Prompt
Build my weekly Amazon report for the last full week vs the week before: Total Sales, Order Count, Unit Count and Order Item Count by Date, with % change for each. Work out the average price per unit as Total Sales ÷ Unit Count. Name the best and worst day and finish with 3 bullets: what grew, what dropped, what to check.
Then ask
Prompt
For the same two weeks, show how many orders were FBA (AFN) vs FBM (MFN), Prime and business orders.

Can ChatGPT find my top ASINs this month?

The problemYou check your bestseller every day. But the ASIN that quietly slowed down only shows up when someone compares this month’s order export with last month’s.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT ranks your ASINs and SKUs by Quantity Ordered for the month, including Title and Item Price. Then it lists the products that fell most against the month before.

What you getYou see what to restock, promote or rework before the month closes, without matching SKUs across 2 files.

Prompt
For the last full month and the month before, rank ASIN and Seller SKU by Quantity Ordered with Title and Item Price. Show the top 15 and the 5 products with the biggest drop in Quantity Ordered.

Can ChatGPT tell which FBA products will run out first?

The problemA top SKU runs out in FBA, and the shipment you rush out still has to be checked in before it can sell again.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT reads fulfillable, inbound and reserved units per SKU and compares them with units ordered in the last 30 days. Then it lists every SKU with fewer than 21 days of cover, lowest first.

What you getYou plan the next shipment to Amazon from sales pace rather than from eyeballing a stock count.

Prompt
From my FBA inventory, list Seller SKU, Product Name, Fulfillable Quantity, Inbound Shipped Quantity, Inbound Receiving Quantity and Total Reserved Quantity. Then get Quantity Ordered by Seller SKU and Date for the last 30 days. Work out days of cover as Fulfillable Quantity ÷ average daily Quantity Ordered and list every SKU under 21 days, lowest first.

Can ChatGPT show how much of my FBA stock is unsellable?

The problemUnfulfillable units sit in Amazon’s warehouses for months, and nobody looks at them until the removal list becomes its own project.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT sorts SKUs by Total Unfulfillable Quantity, then splits each one into customer, warehouse, carrier and distributor damage, plus defective and expired units.

What you getYou know which SKUs to pull or raise with Amazon first, as well as which kind of damage keeps growing.

Prompt
List my top 15 Seller SKUs by Total Unfulfillable Quantity with Product Name, and split each into Customer Damaged Quantity, Warehouse Damaged Quantity, Carrier Damaged Quantity, Distributor Damaged Quantity, Defective Quantity and Expired Quantity.

Can ChatGPT flag FBM orders that might ship late?

The problemAfter a busy weekend, a few merchant-fulfilled orders sit unshipped, so the late shipment hits your account health before anyone spots it.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT lists merchant-fulfilled orders that are still unshipped and due within 48 hours, with items shipped, items unshipped and the Prime flag. Then you ship the riskiest ones first.

What you getThe day’s packing starts with the orders closest to their deadline instead of a scroll through Manage Orders.

Prompt
List orders from the last 7 days where Fulfillment Channel is MFN, Order Status is Unshipped or PartiallyShipped and Latest Ship Date is within the next 48 hours. Show Amazon Order Id, Purchase Date, Latest Ship Date, Number Of Items Unshipped, Number Of Items Shipped and Is Prime, sorted by Latest Ship Date, with hours left.

Can ChatGPT compare my prices with other offers?

The problemA rival seller undercuts you on your best ASIN, but you only find out days later from a slow sales week.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT looks up competitive landed price, listing price and shipping, as well as each ASIN’s catalog sales rank. It then sets them next to the Item Price on your recent orders. Each lookup covers up to 20 ASINs, so ask about a bigger catalog in batches of 20.

What you getYou can tell whether a price gap or a drop in sales rank explains a slow week before you change a price.

Prompt
Get competitive pricing for these ASINs: B0XXXXXXX1, B0XXXXXXX2, B0XXXXXXX3. Show landed price, listing price and shipping for each, plus the sales rank from the catalog, next to the Item Price on my orders from the last 14 days.

Can ChatGPT fix a listing title or bullet points for me?

The problemYour listing title still reads like the supplier’s spec sheet, and every rewrite means another trip through the Seller Central listing editor.

What ChatGPT doesChatGPT reads the listing’s status, including the attributes its product type requires. Then it drafts a new title and bullet points as an exact change for you to check and, on Business, Enterprise or Edu, sends the one you confirm. Listing changes are permanent, so ChatGPT shows the exact change first.

What you getYou rewrite it in the same chat where you spotted the weak listing, while the draft sits next to the current copy.

Prompt
For SKU ABC-123, show the listing status and the attributes its product type requires. Draft a new title and 5 bullet points from the current ones. Show me the exact change before you send it.

For: e-commerce managers · Amazon agencies · Amazon brand owners

Actions: producttype_get · listing_patch · listing_put · listing_delete

Can ChatGPT compare my Amazon and Shopify sales?

The problemAmazon and your own store each report their own week, so working out which channel drives growth ends in separate exports and a pivot table.

What ChatGPT doesIs your Shopify store also connected in Porter? Then ChatGPT puts Amazon Total Sales, orders and units next to Shopify Net Sales and Orders by week. You see which channel grew, and then where to send stock.

What you getYou then make stock and promotion calls from one weekly view of both channels.

Prompt
For the last 8 full weeks, show Amazon Total Sales, Order Count and Unit Count by Week next to Shopify Net Sales and Orders. Add each channel's share of combined sales and flag weeks where one channel moved more than 20%.

03Why Porter

Why Porter for Amazon Seller Central in ChatGPT

Porter fits when you want several seller accounts, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx, or other sources in the same chat. If you’d rather run Amazon’s own server with your registered SP-API app credentials, Amazon’s Local MCP for SP-API does that. For ad data, Amazon runs a separate Amazon Ads MCP Server for Amazon Ads partners with API credentials.

✓

One URL, nothing to host

Approve Porter in Seller Central and paste one MCP URL in ChatGPT on the web. There’s no SP-API app to register and no credentials to manage.

⊞

Every seller account and marketplace

Each seller and marketplace pair is one account in Porter, from Amazon.com to Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx. ChatGPT queries each one, then combines the answers in one table, a row per client or store.

⚙

Amazon next to Shopify and GA4

Ask about Amazon Total Sales next to Shopify, WooCommerce, GA4 and Klaviyo through the same MCP URL, so you see which channel grows and where to send stock.

Aa

Read and change listings

ChatGPT drafts listing titles, bullet points and attributes and shows you the exact change. On Business, Enterprise or Edu, Porter sends the change you confirm to Amazon; on Pro, ChatGPT reads and recommends. Analytics and reporting leave your account exactly as you set it.

↻

133 ready-made fields

ChatGPT gets named fields for daily sales, orders, order items, FBA inventory and listings, plus actions for competitive prices, catalog sales ranks and Amazon reports.

✓

One connection, every destination

One Seller Central account connected in Porter also feeds Claude, Google Sheets, BigQuery and Data Studio, including Amazon Seller Central dashboard templates, with no second charge.

⊞

Two years of sales history

Amazon’s sales metrics reach 2 years back, and Porter returned that full window in tests. On paid plans, ChatGPT compares daily sales, orders and units with the same weeks last year in one answer.

⚙

Live dashboards, not only chat answers

Ask ChatGPT for a dashboard and Porter’s AI dashboards publish it at its own link, synced automatically and ready to share. Official MCP servers answer inside the chat and stop there.

Amazon Seller Central data and actions in ChatGPT

Through the Amazon Seller Central connector, ChatGPT works with 133 fields: daily sales, orders, order items, FBA inventory and listings. Can ChatGPT change my Seller Central listings?

On Business, Enterprise and Edu plans, yes, after you confirm. ChatGPT can create a listing or fully replace one, change single attributes like the title or bullet points, as well as delete a listing.

It also reads orders, FBA inventory, competitive prices, catalog items and Amazon reports. Prices, order confirmations and FBA shipments stay in Seller Central, where you handle them as usual. On Pro, ChatGPT reads the account and lists the changes for you to make in Seller Central.

How far back can ChatGPT read Seller Central data?

Amazon's sales metrics reach 2 years back (Amazon's sales metrics window). In Porter's tests, though, orders and order items reached a year back. FBA inventory and listings, meanwhile, show today's state.

The Free plan covers the last 15 days in ChatGPT (30 days in Data Studio and Sheets).

Why is each marketplace a separate account?

Amazon authorizes each seller and marketplace pair, so Porter shows Amazon.com, Amazon.ca and Amazon.com.mx as separate accounts, each with its own marketplace ID (Amazon's marketplace IDs). Non-Amazon channels for the same seller also show up as separate accounts.

ChatGPT queries the accounts one by one, then combines the answers into one table, a row per marketplace.

07Security

Is it safe?

Yes, because Porter keeps reading apart from changing. Analytics and reporting leave your account exactly as you set it, and ChatGPT makes listing changes only on Business, Enterprise or Edu, and only the ones you confirm. Only you can revoke the access you approved (Amazon's page on revoking app authorizations).

How ChatGPT asks before changing Seller Central

ChatGPT asks you to confirm changes based on the app's permissions and holds back some high-risk actions for extra care. ChatGPT also shows you the exact listing change first. Listing changes and deletions are permanent, so read the draft before you confirm.

Each completed change also uses 1 AI credit.

What the connector needs from Seller Central

You approve Porter through Login with Amazon, so use a Seller Central login that can authorize apps. Amazon's consent screen then shows the access Porter asks for. Buyer names, emails and postal codes stay with Amazon.

Amazon asks you to re-authorize every 365 days from Manage Your Apps in Seller Central (Amazon's reauthorization guide). Re-authorizing can leave a second row for the same account, but both rows read the same data.

08FAQ

FAQ

Amazon brand owners and agencies usually ask about 5 things before they connect: ad data, several accounts, Claude, existing Porter reports and account safety. After that come 3 fixes: numbers that don't match Seller Central, connection errors and empty fields.

Does this include Amazon Ads data?

Porter reads Seller Central: sales, orders, order items, FBA inventory and listings. For ad data, Amazon has its own Amazon Ads MCP Server, in open beta for Amazon Ads partners with active API credentials. You set it up separately from Porter.

Can I connect several seller accounts, say as an agency?

Yes, since each seller and marketplace pair is one account in Porter, billed as one. ChatGPT queries each account, then combines the answers in one table. An agency sees a row per client and marketplace. A brand selling in the US, Canada and Mexico, meanwhile, sees each store on its own row.

Can I use Porter in Claude too?

Yes. Porter's MCP URL, the same one behind the Amazon Seller Central connector for ChatGPT, also works in Claude as a custom connector, with the same Porter login and seller accounts. See Porter's Amazon Seller Central connector for Claude for the Claude setup and what it covers.

I already send Seller Central to Looker Studio or Sheets with Porter. Do I reconnect for ChatGPT?

No, because you connect a Seller Central account once in Porter, with no second charge. It feeds the Amazon Seller connector for Data Studio, Google Sheets, Amazon Seller Central to BigQuery and ChatGPT. Then, in ChatGPT, add Porter's MCP URL and sign in with the Porter login you already use.

Can this get my seller account suspended?

Porter reads Seller Central through Amazon's Selling Partner API, since that's the route Amazon documents for apps a seller authorizes. Amazon also sets rate limits per seller and app pair. If a call comes too fast, it gets a 429 error and the app can retry (Amazon's SP-API usage plans and rate limits).

Troubleshooting

Why don't the numbers match Seller Central?

Compare Total Sales with product sales, since Order Total Amount adds shipping and tax. Seller Central can show all marketplaces together, while Porter splits them into accounts. Average Unit Price is right by day, so for weeks or months ask ChatGPT for Total Sales ÷ Unit Count.

Why does ChatGPT show an error for my account?

Re-authorize Porter from Manage Your Apps in Seller Central, or reconnect the account in Porter, then ask ChatGPT again. Amazon's authorization for Porter lapses every 365 days unless you re-authorize, and Porter then shows a general connector error.

Why are some fields empty?

Ask by city and state, which fill in, since Buyer Name, Buyer Email and Shipping Address Postal Code need restricted Amazon roles and come back empty. Currency code is filled on orders only. Add a date to questions with order-item fields like Quantity Ordered, otherwise they cover your full history.

09Next

More ChatGPT connectors

Seller Central answers get sharper when they sit next to your store, site and email data. Porter brings each of those into ChatGPT through the same MCP URL as the Amazon Seller Central connector. Browse all ChatGPT connectors, then add the sources you sell and market through. Or start a client report from Porter's Amazon templates as well as the reporting tools comparison.

Not only ChatGPT. Send Amazon Seller Central data anywhere

The same Porter account and connection also send Amazon Seller Central data to these destinations, at no extra cost.

Try the Seller Central connector in ChatGPT
