How to connect PartnerStack to Claude

PartnerStack connects to Claude through Porter in 3 steps, with no code and no server to run. Connect your PartnerStack vendor account in Porter, add Porter’s MCP URL to Claude as a custom connector, then ask your first question. The full walkthrough, with screenshots, is in our guide on how to connect PartnerStack to Claude. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard Claude uses to read data from tools such as Porter.

What you need before you start

  • You need a PartnerStack vendor account with its public and secret API keys, found under Settings, Integrations, PartnerStack API Keys (where PartnerStack keeps your API keys). Add a free Porter account and any Claude plan: Free through Enterprise add custom connectors, and Free allows one (Anthropic’s guide to custom connectors in Claude).
  • Works in Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Cowork and Claude Code, with any Claude model, from Opus to Sonnet and Haiku.
  1. Step 1: Connect PartnerStack in Porter

In Porter, choose Create, then Claude, then PartnerStack, and enter your PartnerStack API keys.

  2. Step 2: Add the connector to Claude

In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors, and choose + Add, then Add custom connector. Name it Porter and paste this URL:

    MCP URL
    https://mcp.portermetrics.com/mcp
  3. Step 3: Ask Claude about PartnerStack

Sign in to Porter, then try:

    Prompt
Using my PartnerStack account, list my top 10 partners by commissions earned last month. Amounts are in cents, so divide by 100, and read every page of results.

02Use cases and prompts

What you can ask Claude

Each use case comes with a prompt to copy, the fields it uses from the PartnerStack fields list and who it’s for. Every prompt asks Claude to convert cents and read all pages, since PartnerStack sends 10 records a page unless asked for more.

Which partners drove the most revenue last month?

The problemThe QBR deck needs a partner leaderboard, and the only way to build it today is a transactions export pivoted by partner.

What Claude doesClaude totals last month’s transactions by partnership, names each partner and group, and sets each partner’s commissions next to the revenue they referred.

What you getThe leaderboard for the partner review comes from one prompt, not from an export and a pivot table.

Prompt
For last month, total Transaction Amount by partnership, convert cents to dollars, and show the top 15 partners with their Group Name and the Commission Amount they earned. Read every page of results and keep each currency on its own row.

For: partnerships managers · affiliate program managers · SaaS marketers

Fields used: Transaction AmountTransaction CurrencyPartnership KeyPartnerGroup NameCommission Amount (via partner_stack.transaction_list, partner_stack.partnership_list, partner_stack.reward_list)

Which PartnerStack commissions are on hold or pending?

The problemThe payout total is due by Thursday, and someone still has to open every partner to find what’s pending, on hold or declined.

What Claude doesClaude lists commissions by Commission Status, which PartnerStack sets to hold, pending, approved, declined or paid (PartnerStack’s commission statuses). Claude totals pending and on-hold amounts per partner and shows each declined commission with its Decline Reason.

What you getThe payout review starts from a total per partner and a list of declines to explain, instead of a partner-by-partner check.

Prompt
List every commission created in the last 60 days with Commission Status pending or hold. Total them by partner and currency in dollars, and list declined commissions separately with their Decline Reason. Read every page.

For: partner operations · affiliate program managers · marketing ops

Fields used: Commission AmountCommission StatusCommission CurrencyCommission Earned DateDecline ReasonPartner (via partner_stack.reward_list)

Which new partners haven't referred a customer yet?

The problemNew partners sign up, grab their link and go quiet, and the ones worth a nudge are buried among dozens of fresh partnerships.

What Claude doesClaude checks every partnership created in the last 90 days for referred customers and returns the partners with none, grouped by Group Name.

What you getYour activation emails go to the partners who need them, without cross-checking two exports by hand.

Prompt
List partnerships created in the last 90 days. For each one, count its referred customers and show only the partners with zero, with Program Join Date and Group Name. Work through one group at a time and read every page.

Which partner leads and deals are stuck?

The problemA partner registered a deal weeks ago, and nobody on your side has told them where it stands.

What Claude doesPartner leads and deals from this quarter come back by Lead Stage and Deal Stage, with Expected Deal Value, and Claude flags deals whose Expected Close Date has passed.

What you getPartner follow-ups start from a list of stalled deals, ranked by value, instead of a stage-by-stage scan.

Prompt
Show partner leads created this quarter by Lead Stage with Lead Name and Lead Company. Then list deals created this quarter by Deal Stage with Deal Account Name, Expected Deal Value and Expected Close Date, and flag any deal past its close date.

Can Claude invite partners into the right PartnerStack group?

The problemRecruiting runs from a sheet of names, and each one still needs an invite and the right group by hand.

What Claude doesClaude lists your partner groups, then invites each partner by email into the group you choose, with or without PartnerStack’s invitation email. Later, Claude can move a partnership to another group or tier and change its manager.

What you getNew partners land in the right group on day one, without a form filled in for each.

Prompt
List my PartnerStack groups. Then, for each email in this list, prepare an invitation into the "Agency partners" group with notify_by_email off, and show me the full list before you send anything.

Fields used: Group NameMember EmailPartner KeyPartner Manager (via partner_stack.group_list, partner_stack.partnership_create, partner_stack.partnership_update)

Can Claude record a missed referral and its commission?

The problemA customer came through a partner but signed up without the link, and the partner has been waiting for credit since.

What Claude doesClaude creates the customer attributed to the right partner, records the transaction in cents and, when your plan calls for it, adds a manual commission. Run it with test keys first, as the safety section explains.

What you getPartner credit disputes close in one conversation, with the records in PartnerStack instead of a note in a spreadsheet.

Prompt
Create a customer for jane@example.com attributed to partner key acme-partner, then record a 49900-cent USD transaction for that customer. Show me both records and wait for my OK before you create anything.

For: partner operations · affiliate program managers · marketing ops

Fields used: Customer EmailPartner KeyTransaction AmountTransaction CurrencyCommission AmountCommission Description (via partner_stack.customer_create, partner_stack.transaction_create, partner_stack.reward_create)

Did partner-referred deals close in HubSpot?

The problemPartnerStack says a partner referred the account, but whether the deal closed lives in the CRM, in another tab.

What Claude doesWith HubSpot also connected in Porter, Claude reads your PartnerStack customers and your HubSpot deals in the same chat and matches them by company name.

What you getPartner value gets judged on closed revenue in your CRM, not only on the referrals PartnerStack records.

Prompt
List PartnerStack customers created this quarter with Customer Company Name and Partner. Then pull HubSpot deals closed this quarter with Deal name, Deal stage and Deal amount won, match them by company name, and total the won amount per partner.

For: CRM managers · partnerships managers · SaaS marketers

Fields used: Customer Company NameCustomer EmailPartner (via partner_stack.customer_list)Deal nameDeal stageDeal amount wonDeal close date

07Security

Is it safe?

Yes, with two habits. Porter asks for your permission before Claude writes anything to PartnerStack, and nothing runs until you approve it. Transactions and commissions you create stay in PartnerStack, where you remove them as usual, so run new write prompts with PartnerStack test keys before your production keys.

How Claude asks before changing PartnerStack

Claude can invite partners, update a partnership's group, manager, partner key or tier, create customers, record transactions and create manual commissions. Each one waits for your approval. An invitation email is final once PartnerStack sends it, so invite with the email off when you want to check the list first.

Test with PartnerStack test keys first

Test keys mark every customer Claude creates as a test customer, and PartnerStack gives each account a test partner with the key gstest. Transactions for test customers generate no commissions, so you can check a prompt end to end without paying anyone.

What the connector needs from PartnerStack

Porter needs your vendor account's public and secret API keys. Each key pair connects as its own account, so each program you add stays separate in Claude.

08FAQ

FAQ

Before connecting PartnerStack to Claude through Porter, partnerships teams usually ask about Anthropic's partner program, affiliates, several programs, freshness and payouts. After those come 3 fixes: numbers that don't match the PartnerStack dashboard, lists that stop at 10 partners and a 429 error.

Is this the Claude Partner Network?

No. The Claude Partner Network is Anthropic's program for partner organizations that help enterprises adopt Claude (Anthropic's Claude Partner Network announcement). This page covers something else: connecting the partner program you run in PartnerStack to Claude through Porter, so Claude can read your partners, referrals and commissions.

Can affiliates and publishers use Porter's PartnerStack connection?

Porter connects to PartnerStack's Vendor API, which serves the company that runs the partner program and owns its partners, customers and commissions. Affiliates and publishers who earn commissions through PartnerStack read their own data through PartnerStack's separate Partner API.

Can I connect more than one PartnerStack partner program?

Yes. Each PartnerStack program has its own pair of API keys, and Porter keeps each key pair as a separate account that Claude can read. Agencies that run partner programs for clients connect each client's program the same way and name the account when they ask.

How fresh is PartnerStack data in Claude?

Porter reads PartnerStack's API at the moment Claude asks a question, so a commission approved this morning shows as approved in the answer. PartnerStack documents no delay for partnerships, customers, transactions or commissions, so Claude sees what your dashboard shows, minus link clicks and conversion rates.

Can Claude approve or pay out PartnerStack commissions?

Claude reads every commission's status through Porter and can create a manual commission, while approving, declining and paying out happen in your PartnerStack account as usual. Use Claude to list what's pending before payout, then approve those commissions in your PartnerStack dashboard.

Troubleshooting

Why don't Claude's numbers match PartnerStack?

Claude's PartnerStack totals through Porter differ from the dashboard for 4 reasons. The dashboard shows link clicks and conversion rates that the API doesn't return. Commission totals change with the statuses you include, test customers never create commissions, and amounts come in cents until Claude divides them.

Why does Claude list only 10 PartnerStack partners?

PartnerStack returns 10 records per page unless the request asks for more, up to 250, so Claude's first answer through Porter may stop early. Ask Claude to read every page of results, and split long ranges by month so each request stays small.

Why did PartnerStack return a 429 error?

PartnerStack answers 429 when requests from one address pass PartnerStack's API rate limit of 4,000 requests per minute, so a burst of Claude questions through Porter can hit it. Wait a minute, then ask again with a shorter date range or one group at a time.
